Haven’t We Heard This Voice Before?

Clinton betray some (but not too many) hurt feelings with genuine humor, she upped the ante by flattering Barack Obama as "very likable." Which prompted the Illinois senator to match Mrs. Clinton's most human moment to date with the most inhuman of his own. To use family-newspaper language, he behaved like a jerk - or, to be more precise, like Rick Lazio, the now-forgotten adversary who cleared Mrs. Clinton's path to the Senate by boorishly waving a paper in her face during a 2000 debate.

Mr. Obama's grudging "You're likable enough, Hillary" made him look like "an ex-husband that was turning over the alimony check," in the formulation of Paul Begala, a Clinton backer. The moment stood in stark contrast to Mr. Obama's behavior in the corresponding debate just before the Iowa caucuses.

Work week begins

Izzo is an interesting one, as it's a bit harder to gauge his play on special teams and if he still has the speed necessary to get the job done. Elsewhere, I think Kyle Brady will come back for another year, his 14th, while I'd predict retirement for Troy Brown.

I watched the full press conference Sunday night. I have to tell you, I was impressed with the way Bill Belichick treated the press. He was respectful, comfortable, and seemed helpful. Of course he won't give out any info that might help the opponents. Was last night different from usual? How do you find Bill? Does he get unfairly criticized? He certainly doesn't have the charm of Brady but he didn't come across as belligerent.
Dave McGregor, Berlin, N.H.

A: I thought Belichick's press conference was terrific.

TSN.ca looks at Canada's best Cup shots

With the Calgary Flames, Edmonton Oilers and Ottawa Senators coming up short in the Stanley Cup final for the last three seasons, Canadian hockey fans know all too well about the country's championship drought.

It's been 14 long years since the Montreal Canadiens hoisted the Cup, and no Canadian team has done it since.

So with the 56th NHL All-Star game in the books and the race for the postseason intensifying, TSN.ca looks at Canada's most realistic shots at a Stanley Cup championship.

Quickly now - name the team with the second-best record in the Eastern Conference at the break.

Consumer Confidence Plummets in the Face of Gas Price Hikes and Credit ...

NEW YORK, Nov. 9 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ - U.S. consumer confidence reached its lowest level in more than two years this month amid concerns over record-high oil prices, continued trouble in the housing market and higher inflation, according to the most recent results of the RBC CASH (Consumer Attitudes and Spending by Household) Index, which measured the attitudes of 1,005 Americans this week. Although consumer attitudes deteriorated across the board, the substantial drop in expectations contributed heavily to the sizeable decline in the overall index. As a result, the overall RBC CASH Index for November 2007 stands at 64, down more than 16 points from October's 80.6 level.

UPI Thoroughbred Racing Roundup

Sunday's Cathay Pacific Hong Kong Cup, a worthy goal in its own right as the final major international event of the year, also became a potential preview for the first major race of 2008 as Godolphin Racing's Ramonti emerged triumphant. Ramonti, a 5-year-old horse by Martino Alonso, came to challenge early leader Viva Pataca at the top of the stretch at Sha Tin racecourse and went on to win by a 1/2 length. It was the fourth win of the year for Ramonti, who also has captured the Queen Anne Stakes at Ascot, the Sussex at Goodwood and the Queen Elizabeth II at Ascot.
Indications are, he now will be pointed for the Dubai World Cup in March -- the home court for Godolphin.
"It was his first time over 10 furlongs," said winning jockey Frankie Dettori, who won the Hong Kong event for the third time.

Need an expert's advice on Disney World? Georgia mom is one click away

And she's learned how to get the most Mickey for your buck.

Murry, who lives in Social Circle about 45 miles east of downtown Atlanta, is sharing what she's learned as an inaugural member of the Walt Disney World Moms Panel.

The 12 panel members of 11 moms and one dad answer questions posed by folks planning a visit to Walt Disney World on an online forum — www.disneyworldmoms.com.

The dozen Disney experts were selected from 10,000 applications that asked for tips when visiting the 40-square-mile assemblage of theme parks, water parks, hotels and restaurants.

Murry, 38, is quick to note she isn't a Disney employee. She isn't paid for posting her advice.

"We get a family vacation for four," Murry says. "That means we will pick up the cost of the other three because there are seven in our family."

And her assessments can be quite candid.

Has Hamilton what it takes to win world title?

I've been watching F1 for 39 years, I didn't go ape about James Hunt - Lauda was the superior driver in that tussle. I wasn't swept up in the Nigel / Damon bandwagons and think that Button will always be a 'nearly' man. However LH is a totally different proposition. His consumate, calm skill puts him way in front of the rest of his contemporaries. For the record (for the benefit of our Iberian friends) but for team tactics (NOT orders!) he would have won at Monaco. Furthermore, I think that Alonso should be grateful to LH for sorting the McLaren so effectively both in in winter testing and over the 06 season, rather than the reverse. No one in the UK is saying Lewis must win, those of us who have seen a few things can see the mark of brilliance that has few competitors and will carry on improving.
